Penny Lane the Dog needs a home
I would like to introduce to you Penny Lane and she is a 7.5 yr old lab/boxer mix who seriously is the sweetest, most loving dog. She was adopted last March from another rescue and over the past year was a faithful companion to her loving owner after he was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately he passed on January 3rd. His daughter planned on welcoming Penny into her home, but Penny and her current dog didn't get along. She tried finding Penny a home with friends or family, but unfortunately those that offered to help, fell thru. I happened to see the post on Facebook as I knew Penny's previous owner and offered to help. I was told that she can be timid at first around new people but once she warmed up to you, she was a great snuggler so last Saturday, I went to meet her. I was there for about a 1/2 hour and she hid from me behind her favorite chair, but I heard she liked to go for walks, so I asked if I could take her for a walk. We walked up and down the street, and she loved it. She walked great on her leash, we talked alittle bit longer and made arrangements for me to pick her up on Sunday.
Sunday was extremely heartbreaking, I met her late owner's daughter who was in tears, after recently loosing her father, she was very upset to have to say good bye to Penny also. I promised her that I would help her find a good home, and I would keep her updated. Penny was great in the car on my way to my home and I planned on keeping her separated from my pack for the first few days until she felt comfortable in my home. For the past few weeks she has had so many caretakers, and I didn't want to stress her out. My daughter, Carmen, fell in love with Penny right away, and Penny who was timid around me yesterday was wagging her tail around my kids and following them around looking for cuddles. She is very gentle and kind with children, and we did introduce her to my dogs a few hours later, and she did wonderful.
She is UTD on her vaccinations, is microchipped, HW negative, has been given flea and tick prevention and has been spayed.

We will do our best to respond to any and all requests and contacts as soon as possible, but we are a 100% volunteer run rescue. It is great because that means we can keep our adoption prices low because we are not paying salaries, but all of our volunteers do have families and "real" jobs in order to support our passion of saving animals from euthanasia often just days or hours before they are scheduled to be put to sleep. That being said, one of us are going to do our best to contact via email or by phone within 24 hours of any inquiry. It is not uncommon that when you have made the decision to add to your family and committing to adopting a rescue dog that you are very excited, we just ask that you be patient with us.
